WR Recovers Rs. 6.44 Cr From 1.7 Lakh Cases Of Ticketless Traveling During September, 2014

In its endeavor to provide better services to its bonafide rail users and also to check ticketless travel and other such irregularities, Western Railway conducted regular checks during September,2014 where in 1.7 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel including unbooked luggage cases were detected resulting into a recovery of Rs. 6.44 crore, which is 27.67 % more than the corresponding period of last year.

During the month, 150 cases of illegal transfer of reserved tickets were detected and an amount of Rs.1,40,295/- was realized. 1545 beggars and unauthorized hawkers were apprehended, evicted, fined and 112 persons were sent to jail. During September, 2014, 200 checks were conducted against touts and other anti-social elements. As a result, 195 persons were apprehended and prosecuted and fined under various sections of Railways Act.

WR urges all rail users to buy proper railway ticket and travel with dignity.
