Chennai division of Southern Railway is launching an awareness drive to encourage suburban paperless mobile ticketing. The drive will be conducted from 23rd June to 12th July, 2016. Every day, one suburban station will be covered in this drive wherein wi-fi based free downloading of UTS mobile ticketing app will be provided for the passengers. Also, the passengers will be informed about the various features of UTS mobile ticketing app.
The awareness drive will be conducted as per the following schedule:

A brief about UTS mobile ticketing app:
Launching of UTS mobile tickets was done on 14.01.2015.
Mobile UTS paperless ticketing launched on 22.04.15 over suburban section between Chennai Egmore – Tambaram.
The facility extended to the entire suburban section on 13.06.15.
This was followed up on 05.11.2015 by extending this facility to season tickets also.
Using this app, a person can book suburban tickets, including season tickets, using Net enabled Android/Windows phone, provided he/she is within a radius of 5 km from the station where he/she commences his/her journey, but away from the track by 15 meters.

The target of Chennai Division is to reach 30% of the total unreserved ticketing in suburban section through mobile ticketing.Travelling public are requested to widely make use of the facility.
